Birds trapped in nets at Rijksmuseum: 'Sad and stressful'

Several birds have become trapped in protective netting placed around trees near the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam to prevent nesting before upcoming construction work. While the museum states that the nets are checked daily by ecologists, local residents and the animal ambulance have expressed concerns over the animals' welfare. The nets are expected to remain in place until July to accommodate the development of a new sculpture garden.
