Still running out of space at home? This foundation helps you declutter

The Ontspulknul foundation has launched an initiative in Vijfhuizen to help elderly residents clear out unwanted household items, ranging from furniture like pianos to miscellaneous stored objects. Founded by Iris Eggink, the organization provides support by collecting bulky or heavy items directly from seniors' homes, ensuring they reach local thrift stores or waste processing facilities. This initiative is particularly helpful for residents who may struggle with the physical demands of decluttering their long-term homes.

Organized in collaboration with the NMXC Center for Sustainability and the local municipality, the project aims to promote sustainability and proper waste management. By providing an organized way for residents to dispose of goods, the municipality hopes to reduce the amount of waste illegally dumped near communal bins. While the service focuses on seniors, younger residents can also drop off items at designated locations. Following the successful events in Vijfhuizen, the team plans to expand these efforts to Hoofddorp on September 4.
