Daan Schuurmans debunks Sinterklaas rumors: 'I know who will do it'

Actor Daan Schuurmans has officially denied speculation that he will replace Stefan de Walle as the new Sinterklaas. While he confirmed he knows who will take over the iconic role, the broadcaster NTR intends to keep the successor's identity secret until the Sinterklaasjournaal premieres on November 9.

Actor Daan Schuurmans has publicly denied rumors that he will be taking over the role of Sinterklaas. The position became vacant after 61-year-old Stefan de Walle, who had portrayed the character since 2011, announced his immediate resignation this past Wednesday. Speculation regarding his successor intensified after Schuurmans' wife, Bracha van Doesburgh, posted a social media update intended to clarify that he was not the new actor, which unintentionally caused further confusion.

Despite the ongoing public interest, Schuurmans confirmed he is aware of the identity of the new Sinterklaas and assured fans that the audience will enjoy the upcoming performance. He also explicitly ruled out fellow actor Kasper van Kooten as a potential candidate for the role. The broadcaster NTR has confirmed that the new Sinterklaas will make his debut in the Sinterklaasjournaal on November 9, with no further official announcements expected before that date.
