After the passing of beloved former band member Paul van Bruystegem, Triggerfinger is back with a new record: ‘We were in his slipstream, that wasn’t always easy’

Belgian rock band Triggerfinger has released a new album titled Tarmac, their first record since the passing of their long-time bassist Paul van Bruystegem. The album was recorded partly in their studio in Merksem and partly in Los Angeles in collaboration with producer Mitchell Froom. The title reflects the themes of family, transitions, and the constant cycle of arrival and departure that the remaining band members, Ruben Block and Mario Goossens, have experienced recently. Moving forward as a duo, Block and Goossens reflect on the deep influence of their former bandmate, who remained a central figure in their musical identity until his death. While the band continues to refine their signature sound, they emphasize that they have matured both personally and professionally. Balancing their rock identity with a disciplined approach to health and creative collaboration, the band members look ahead to future projects while maintaining their iconic visual style.
