Fire at De Pijp laundromat, residents temporarily evacuated

A fire broke out at a laundromat located at the intersection of Frans Halsstraat and Gerard Doustraat in the De Pijp neighborhood during the early hours of the morning. Emergency services initially responded to reports of smoke around 3:00 a.m., but were unable to locate the source until a second call was made over an hour later. Two fire stations were deployed to extinguish the blaze, which appeared to have started in a laundry basket inside the building.

Due to the incident, residents living in the apartments above the laundromat were temporarily evacuated as a safety precaution while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and ventilate the smoke-filled premises. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no residents required medical attention for smoke inhalation. Once the building was cleared and deemed safe, all displaced residents were permitted to return to their homes. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
