Music lessons and rehearsals at Slachthuis Haarlem resume Monday

Music studios at Slachthuis Haarlem will reopen for lessons and rehearsals on October 5 following a temporary management takeover by Hart Haarlem and Patronaat. While the venue's rehearsal spaces will be operational, the bar and stage remain closed as officials search for a long-term solution with the municipality.

Music lessons and rehearsals are set to resume at Slachthuis Haarlem starting Monday, October 5, following the recent bankruptcy of the foundation that previously operated the music center. While the venue in East Haarlem was forced to close its doors on September 23, organizations Hart Haarlem and Patronaat have stepped in to manage the rehearsal studios for the next six months. This intervention ensures that music teachers and their students can continue their work, although the facility's bar and stage area remain closed for the time being.

Temporary coordinator Eefje Majoor clarified that this arrangement is not a permanent restart of the original center but a necessary measure to maintain vital creative facilities for the local community. The long-term future of the building at Rockplein remains under the control of the municipality, which owns the property. While current tenants with existing agreements can return to the studios immediately, the organizers are still working to resolve arrangements for casual rentals as quickly as possible.
